On OC-ness and a Fetish for School Supplies

So I've been reading the Bhagavad-Gita and have found some passages that I want to mark. Since college my habit has been to always carry 2 highlighters: pink and yellow or orange and yellow. Yellow is used for explanations and longer passages. A pink underline signals an important or topic statement. Full pink highlighting denotes a term or phrase that must be remembered; the definition is then underlined in pink as well. This way, I always know what I'm reading and can find things easily.

My copy of the Gita now looks like this:

(Yes, when I take notes in class, they are two-toned as well. Red for terms/phrases/important statements to be remembered and black for everything else. I am not a fan of blue ink.)

My preferred highlighters have always been the Stabilo yellow and
this pinkish-orange-light salmon-I-don't-know-what color.

(Shown here compared to their regular pink version)

Yesterday though, I found erasable highlighters in National. That's what I used this afternoon on the Gita. Lovely. Not the unknown salmon color that I love, but it'll do and it's so handy.

You find all sorts of wonderful stuff in National. I love wandering the aisles both there and at Office Warehouse. *sigh of contentment* Yeah, I'm a nerd. So sue me.

Affie, I have to admit I have a fetish for office supplies too. I used to LOVE the national bookstore across Ateneo even more than the Beauty Bar that opened beside it. Livi might gasp at this comment. I do love your very, very detailed explanation of your highlighting style and the exact colors of highlighters you most prefer. It's so you!
Btw, I think this means I am a nerd too.

very cool. as for me, i prefer those pencil/crayon-based highlighters, where you have to pull a thread that goes round and round and "sharpens" the ink tip? hehe. very primitive. i like the yellow ones too :)

ooh Karla! I used those as well but then I got pissed coz it would sometimes be soooo hard to pull the thread and "sharpen" the tip. So I reverted to the more modern highlighter.

We are such dweebs!

AAHH!! I used to be like that when I was high school, as in, everyday in National spending like crazy on stuff I didn't really need. hahah!

I was actually tempted to get one of those pencil ones as well, but I figured I had enough highlighters. Besides, the main drawback of those for me is the fact that they don't give a nice fine line for underlining, since they're not very sharp. (medyo useless to sharpen them with a sharpener, right?)

Caaaaarrie! You read my blog! :) Wow, I'm flattered. hehe isn't National Bookstore just wonderful?
