Many of my friends have become cynical. Life has taken their childhood innocence, twisted it, burned it, and shriveled it. They are now jaded.
I refuse to be jaded. I refuse to give in and be turned because I need to be able to hope that we all have a happily ever after. Because if there's no hope, we might as well give up now. I need to hope in order to go on.
If that makes me oblivious or innocent or gullible or unwise sometimes, I can take that. I would rather believe in the magic and the goodness of the world. I would rather be able to go on living towards my happily ever after...than to go on living with no hope at all.

That's really refreshing Aves. I remember a time when I was 100% hopeful and believed in the innate kindness of men. Now, let's say I'm down to 60%. Sad, but I think I am one of those friends you were describing in the first paragraph. But hey, with you sitting next to me every day, your innocence just might rub off on me. Just don't poke me. ;)
I'll try my best, Numi! Both for the innocence rubbing off and the poking. For the poking though...you're just so tempting!
hahaha happy weekend!
oh no Affie. Seems you are outnumbered. I, too, feel like the first part was about me. But, like Numi, I am hoping your innocence will rub off on me. See, there's hope there. Kidding!
Joking aside, I don't think it's really being jaded but rather being realistic. It's recognizing the imperfections in this world, knowing human nature, seeing something BEFORE it hits you (or stabs you in the back as is often the preferred mode, I have come to notice). All that said though, I don't think the realists around you are without hope. Hope and reality can survive together after all.
I love Grey's Anatomy quotes too. It's actually a love-hate relationship as you well know. Here's my latest favorite:
"It hurts to grow. Anybody who tells you it doesn't is lying, but here's the truth. The more things change, the more things stay the same. And sometimes, sometimes change is good. Sometimes change is everything." Meredith Grey
Very good points, Vicki! And you guys talaga, not everything's about you. hahaha Glad you can relate to my posts though. So let's all continuously pull each other up, shall we?
