Food Journal

I spoke to a friend at work today who just made the commitment to go vegetarian. She told me that she keeps a food journal, and I thought why not do the same but on this blog? Putting my diet out here for the world to see will help me:

1. Keep track of what I eat (yeah, I know, that's what a food journal does! :) )
2. By giving me some additional (external) motivation. At least the "no one will know" or "it's just this one time" excuses won't hold water anymore.

I'm going to have to keep in mind though that I'll need to practice ahimsa (non-harming) towards myself:

1. If there is no other food around and my only options are to go hungry or eat meat, I will not starve myself but I will choose the healthiest option available.
2. If I do eat some sort of meat, I will also practice aparigraha, not grasp for an ideal, and accept that it is as it is.

My vegetarian journey officially starts on Monday next week, because my meals will take some preparation, but the food journal will start tomorrow, chicken and fish included. :)

Wish me luck!

Good luck! Since you start on Monday, I'm guessing you will have foie gras on Sunday. :-)

I can still taste the foie gras we had together! And the wine!

I think I'll still make some exceptions for certain foods...the ones I particularly love and don't get very often... yeah though, I hadn't thought of a last meal. :S

Hey, do you remember what the wine was called? That was good wine!

Good luck, Aves! Does this mean you can't eat half of my chicken liver adobo anymore?
