Schizophrenic Environmentalist

The other night I was getting ready to eat one of my absolute favorite meals: bottled tuyo and rice. I was getting my plate and utensils ready when Ryan asked me if I didn't want to use a paper plate so I wouldn't have to wash my stuff after. I very strongly replied, "But that would be bad for the environment!" and proceeded to use the real plate.

It made me think of how in the office we always use paper plates and plastic utensils. Now, we are trying to use less of these products because we're trying to cut costs. That's all well and good, but shouldn't we have started doing this long ago to save the environment too? Washing personal dishes isn't that bad, we could do it.

Funny how I can think of the environment at home but have the habit of using the disposable stuff in the office because everyone else does. I should really make more of an effort to think in the office too.

On my part, I bring my huge black bag whenever I go out. I decline plastic bags; I just jam everything I buy in the bag and take the receipt. People find it weird, but what the hell. Anything for Mother Nature.
