Finger Lickin' Good - But at What Price?

I had passed by A Venue on Makati Avenue last Saturday when I went to pick Firefly up from the vet. That's when I saw that Gasthof's is now open there. Gasthof's is a grill in Boracay well-known for their wonderfully barbeque'd baby back ribs. (I loooove baby back ribs!) To make a long story short, I was craving ribs last night and got Ryan to take me there for dinner.

We ordered the tomato-basil pasta (hardly any flavor), the stuffed pepper (okay, but my mom's is much better. Also, it's supposed to be stuffed with fish, but it doesn't taste like fish at all.) in sweet and sour sauce (I don't believe that sauce belongs on anything other than meat balls!) and the ribs. The ribs were great as always, but 6 ribs, even if they're big ribs, for P750 is just too much. If I hadn't been craving and starving by the time we got there, I would have turned around and eaten somewhere else. At that price, I would have gotten my ribs at Tony Roma's where I could have a nice baked potato to go with them and really good dessert.

I don't know, to me, you can't take something from Boracay to Manila and charge Manila prices for it. It somehow ruins the entire ambience of it being a Boracay specialty.

I totally agree with you! The reverse is true as well..I think taking Gerry's and Dencio's in Boracay is just wrong.

I don't know this place. I think it's time to go back. Yeah, I've been saying this for a while.

I agree Aves! I can't wait to go to the beach again - the last 3 days I spent there were simply NOT enough.
